Let’s Get Personal.

There’s a story I love sharing with friends and colleagues, a tale from a glorious childhood spent in the company of exceptional authors and adventurous characters. I really have my parents to thank for fostering an environment that catered to a young girl’s imagination, sparked by the likes of Roald Dahl’s Mathilda and Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree.

You see, I couldn’t have been more than nine or ten years old when I wrote my first short story. As a sucker for alliterations, the title of this short story was appropriately named, The Tales of the Terrible Twins. The fresh blank paper, the array of colourful pens and crayons, and the essential stapler to bind the four or so pages together - it was a riveting experience I am yet to forget. I can’t exactly recall the plot per se, and I am sure ‘the book’ is currently hidden in a box somewhere or lost to time, but I know that this is when I started on my journey towards something I am truly passionate about, something that’s much bigger than me and much more magical.

I can’t remember a time when the written word didn’t fascinate me. While not always a proficient speller (you should see the letter I wrote to my dad asking for a puppy - the grammar left little to be desired), I have always loved telling and creating stories. Sometimes they live only in my head, and sometimes I scribble a few words here and there when the mood encourages me to do so. However, I spend the better half of my day creating content for a diverse array of clients and brands, which I love. Thank goodness…it is my day job.

What you’ll normally find me doing…

When I am not working of course!

Currently, I am reading A Gentleman in Moscow. I am a tad late to the party on this one. Well, a few years late that is, but life rarely happens on our own timeline. Back to the book! Towles certainly has a way with words. Sometimes, I will read a section or chapter again, just to get lost in the narrative and relive the moment. I am taking my time to savour every page and every beautifully executed sentence.
